How to get the most from our digital magazine
Portugal Life is very simple to navigate through as you have no doubt found out yourself. There is though some extra functionality you may not have discovered that can enhance your experience even further.
Overview
This is where I start whenever I open a digital magazine. Selecting thumbnails allows you and easily navigable visual guide to the whole magazine. The quickest way to get around I feel. There is also an option that allows you to see all the notes you have made through the magazine and navigate to them.
Navigation bar
This section of the magazine can be used to move quickly to any part of the magazine. The bars either side of the arrows will take you straight to the start or end of the magazine. If you wish to jump straight to a specific page then simple type the number into the white space.
To the right are the zoom controls. The first zooms to fit one page width on your screen. The second button is the manual zoom. Once you have set this zoom it is saved and any page you left click on during this visit will automatically jump to this zoom setting. If you wish to change the saved setting just press the button again a select a new zoom level.

Search
You can simply enter any words into the search box and it will show you were they occur in the magazine and allow you to quickly jump to them. Boolean search terms do not work e.g. AND/OR
Interactive content
The section of the page that contains interactive content will briefly glow a certain colour open opening the page. Red is for website link, green indicates an email address you can use and blue means a shortcut straight to another page of the magazine.
Making notes
This is the section where you can make notes as you would a paper magazine and they will be saved for when you return. The first button allows you to highlight any area of a page. The second button allows you to add a note to any area of the page. The third button is perhaps the most useful allowing you to add bookmarks to the pages of the magazine. When you return this allows you to return to a page of interest without requiring you to remember which page it was on. Lastly is the print option.

Here you can find yet more options. Here you can download a version of the magazine that can be read offline, view only one page at a time and even set the magazine to turn pages for you!
Hot keys
Lastly if you like to get around your computer using the keyboard shortcuts then this list of hotkeys wioll no doubt be of great interest.
To navigate through the publication using hot keys instead of a mouse, use the following keys:
To select items on the menu bar use the TAB key to move through the selections. A yellow box will highlight your selection. To activate the selection hit the space bar.
To turn to the next page, press the full stop key.
To turn to back to the previous page, press the comma key.
To zoom in, press 'Z' once. Press the Z key a second time to zoom out again.
You can increase or decrease the zoom level by pressing the + or - keys.
Once zoomed in, press A to scroll left.
Press D to scroll right.
Press W to scroll up.
And press S to scroll down.
